Happily ever after...

Four years ago we got our dear Penny from SPOT (can it really have been that long?) We think she's the Mary Poppins of dogs- "practically perfect in every way."

Nina, we will be forever grateful, and we have sent several friends to you, all of whom gush over their dogs as we do.

I just wanted to show you a peek at how Penny is living happily ever after, well loved by not only by us but also all the neighbor children and loving them back. We think there has never been a sweeter dog. Here she is, decorated for Christmas... the three year olds decided she should be just as "pretty as the Christmas tree."

Thank you, Nina and everyone at SPOT.

Max

In the first week we found out why they named this beautiful little beagle Max. He did everything that first week to the Max. Bark, Run, Chew and Play. He "Maxed" out at 8:30 pm everyday exhausted from his maximum effort. This little guy kept us on our toes from early morning until the evening when he goes to sleep. He did the usual puppy things, chewed up shoes, peed on the rug, ran at full speed from one end of the house to the other. Max found his place among the other pets quickly. He has found his niche and settle in like part of our family. The other special thing that Max does to the "Max" is love. We were blessed to receive a very loving happy dog that really loves life to the fullest. Easily bored and easily excited he is 100% beagle, happy all the time and full of love we could not ask for a better companion
We love our Max ! Thanks Spot

Sylvester

We adopted Sylvester in November 2007 after our 18 1/2 year old cat died. Sylvester had a rough time in life before we got him, and he spent the first 3 weeks under the couch. Since then, he has become my shadow and often entertains my husband and I. We call him Sylver for short and here he his, hanging out with his buddy Uno. And I couldn't resist adding a really cute pic of him sleeping soundly after managing to find his way under the comforter somehow! :)

Thank you so much for everything you to do help save pets! SPOT is a truly wonderful organization!!!

Tyson

When Joan brought 15 or more mini Aussies home from the puppy mill raid three years ago my husband and I went for a visit. I told David, Joan and Joe that I will have one of them when they were ready for adoption. The day finally came after a long legal battle so I called Joan and asked when we could come out. Joan is family so she knew what kind of dog would fit into our lives so she picked four dogs for us to look at. The choice was so hard we asked her not to bring out dog number four -- it was hard enough picking from the three beauties she had introduced us to. With help from our Bodie (Australian/Collie mix) we picked Tye (Tyson, Tyson B, Tye Tye - he answers to all of them now :). Tye was a little shy with me and Joe but he and Bodie were having a good time playing.

The first couple of days were very scary for Tye, he wouldn't come out of his cage unless we went in to get him. He would reluctanly sit with us but seemed to be warming up. I made a few phone calls to Joan and one thing she said really stuck with us....."He wants to be loved he just doesn't know what to do with it'. So we just kept loving him and eventually he started loving back. He's still uncomfortable with people he doesn't know but he tries. He has so much love to offer we really hope he gets over that.

He loves to run with his buddie Bodie and snuggle with our old girl Roxie. He's learned what toys and treats are and how to catch a ball, but still needs to learn how to bring it back. He loves the water and has ventured into the river to swim with Bodie. He's so much fun to watch run in an open field, you can see how happy he is. It's at times like that, you'd never know he spent the first three years of his life in a small cage in a dark barn (unimaginable!).

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful pet! We love him - he's with us to stay.

Thank you

We are back in Washington now, after spending the winter in Arizona. Maggie (Penelope) has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is the most loving little dog and gets along with her Brittany "sisters" beautifully. I knew she was my dog the minute I saw her at 2011 Dog Days. I was not sure if it was a good time for me get a young dog – but she was my dog and that was that. I have a necklace with a charm that says "My dog rescued me", on each side of the charm are three pink beads. Maggie came into my life right in the middle of six weeks of radiation therapy for breast cancer. She helped me a lot with the healing process.
Maggie May took a basic obedience class in AZ. She did very well; it took awhile for her to learn "downs". She just did not want to do them, but does them great now.
I have enclosed some pictures of her. She is a very happy little girl.
Hopefully we will be able to see each other this year at Dog Days and you will see how happy everyone is.
Thank you for Maggie!

Happy Tail

May 13, 2012

Monkey just turned 4! Out of his 4 years, I've been in his life for 3 1/2 and haven't stopped smiling since. From early on, we developed a loving, trusting and respecting bond for each other. He is the LOVE OF MY LIFE and the APPLE OF MY EYE. Thank you for all that you do to help Save One Pet at a Time.

Bergen (aka Mr. Deeks)

We adopted Mr. Deeks (Shepherd mix) in April of 2011 and we couldn't be more happy. We renamed him to Bergen (which he helped pick) and he has been a wonderful addition to our family. He is the most loving dog (who loves to cuddle and kiss) and is so playful he's a joy to have in our family. Not knowing where he came from, we weren't sure what to expect but he made it through obedience training and knows his basic commands. We also weren't sure what to expect of him when we took him camping for the first time last Fall. He absolutely loves camping (Yeah!) and being in the trailer as well as outside laying next to the campfire with us. We took him out to Long Beach and he loved the open beach but barked and backed away from the tiny little waves coming in. We are so thankful we found SPOT and Bergen!

Lucy's story

We adopted Lucy from the Petco in Mt. Vernon just before Christmas. Our 15 yr old kitty passed away in June 2011 and were missing her so much. We saw Lucy and it was love at first sight. We adopted her and brought her home to Canada. She has settled into our home and has been a wonderful addition to our family. We are so glad Lucy has come into our life and thank-you SPOT for all the wonderful work you do for animals like Lucy.

Sophia

Sophie came home to us about 3 weeks ago. She is amazing! She wasn't very happy about Jackson, the cat. However, after Jackson sat up and popped her with her front paws (he is de-clawed) Sophie decided not mess with after that and now they live happily together.
We had some challenges like, Sophie is food possessive.... so I moved her food to the back porch and since she is the only animal in my back year, she can guard her food all day! Once she taught us what she needs from us, we worked on being a happy family.
Sophie is amazing.......... She has a forever home with us.
My grand kids love her and she shows us how amazing she is everyday.
I will not have any problem with strangers in the neighborhood because she already seems to know who belongs here and lets us know if someone is here that she is unsure of! Mr U.P.S man appreciates us going outside when he rings the doorbell!! Good Girl. Sophie!
We are the lucky ones.. Sophie is home! Thanks spot for loving her before we found her!

Her forever home........ Kat, Kim and the boys!

Lucy

Lucy (aka "The Goose") is a wonderful addition to our home. We were introduced to Teresa at a dog party, who had happen to have brought along a doe-eyed grey fluffy mini poodle. We found out Lucy was a survivor of the 2009 Sunberg puppy mills. Once I got Lucy in my arms, though, we were inseparable. When we got her home most people decided she was a lost cause. She was overly skittish and--no offense to her--was a bit of a basketcase (understandably)! But, almost three years later with a lot of love from SPOT and a great home she is going stronger than ever! Everyone comments on how much she has changed from a timid shaky poodle to an all out rambunctious animal! People who claim that they aren't a "tiny dog person" has Lucy in their lap within five minutes of meeting her. She's a real gem. Thank you so much to SPOT for Lucy. She has become more than just a pet and is an amazing addition to our family.

Thank You Teresa

Juneau is doing well she is almost 50 lbs! We love her so much! She loves to play and wrestle with her doggie brothers and cousins. Her absolute favorite pastime is to lay out in front of the fire and "bake" while she sleeps. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to fall in love.
