Happy Tail

Hi Teresa,

Since we weren't able to make the festival today I wanted to send you a few photos of Lewis (formerly Kipper) so you can see how he's doing. We tried giving him a family name when we brought him home and he took to it quickly.

Lewis has had a great summer. We get out every day for 2-3 walks around the neighborhood. We often take a drive to one of the local parks for a change of scenery (and because he enjoys sticking his head out the truck window). His favorite walk is a 3-mile hike around Lake Padden, where there's also a dog park for small dogs. He's very outdoorsy. He's been on two camping trips and discovered that he loves not only the woods, but beaches as well, especially when he gets to tear down a sandy stretch at full speed.

At home he likes to play fetch with tiny tennis balls and show his squeaky plush toys who's boss. He leaves the cats alone until they make the mistake of running past him, and then the game is on. He spends a lot of time sitting on the back of the couch and surveying his domain from the living room window. He also likes doing this from our porch. I always know when the deer are wandering past because Lew has a special bark just for them. He spends time with us in the garden and loves sitting with Brian on the patio while he's grilling.

Lewis absolutely loves people but still has a hard time with other dogs in certain situations. He gets protective and barks excessively when leashed or confronted with another dog when he doesn't want to be. He does just fine at the dog park, though, and has begun to get along quite well with the other dogs in our family, as you can see in one of the photos I've attached.

We're so thankful to have found Lew. He's adorable and has a great personality. The fact that he fits in well with our family and lifestyle is just a bonus. We were very lucky. Thank you for fostering him and helping to give this little guy another chance!

Renee
